Key Principles

Transparency and compliance are at the heart of everything we do.

Fiscal Sponsor Oversight
All donations are handled by our fiscal sponsor, a qualified 501(c)(3) organization. They maintain variance power, meaning they have legal discretion over fund distribution.
No Direct Fund Handling
ClearQuarter never processes, holds, or transfers charitable funds. We are an information and reporting platform only.
Donor Advisory, Not Directive
Your portfolio selection indicates preference, not direction. Final grant decisions rest with the fiscal sponsor based on compliance and impact considerations.

Understanding Fiscal Sponsorship

Fiscal sponsorship is a formal arrangement where a qualified 501(c)(3) organization (the fiscal sponsor) provides financial and legal oversight for charitable projects or initiatives.

When you donate through ClearQuarter, your contribution goes directly to our fiscal sponsor. This ensures:

  • Your donation is tax-deductible
  • Funds are managed by a qualified charitable organization
  • Proper financial oversight and accountability
  • Compliance with IRS regulations for charitable giving

Variance Power: Our fiscal sponsor retains "variance power," which means they have the legal discretion to determine how funds are distributed to maximize charitable impact. While your portfolio selection indicates your philanthropic interests, the fiscal sponsor makes final allocation decisions.

What ClearQuarter Does NOT Do

To maintain compliance and transparency, there are several things we explicitly do not do:

Process or hold donations
Make grant allocation decisions
Provide tax receipts (fiscal sponsor does)
Allow donor-directed grants
Function as a donor-advised fund
Operate as a marketplace for nonprofits
Charge fees on donations
Promise specific fund distribution

What ClearQuarter DOES Do

Our focus is on transparency, reporting, and connecting donors with causes they care about:

Curate cause-based portfolios
Provide nonprofit partner information
Publish quarterly impact reports
Facilitate donation flow to fiscal sponsor
Maintain donor communication preferences
Ensure transparency in operations
Collect and aggregate impact data
Support nonprofit partner submissions
